Don’t you hate it when you have a camping trip planned and the forecast calls for bad weather? Have you ever canceled a hunting trip because it was too cold or snowy? I don’t have that problem anymore. Last November I decided to go to deer camp with a bunch of my friends. We made our plans a couple weeks ahead of time so we’d all have time to get our camping gear together. As opening day of deer season approached, I kept an eye on the Weather Channel and the prospects didn’t look very promising. The forecast was for a cold and snowy week but we were sure it wouldn’t stop us from hunting down our prey.

You see, I had postponed too many hunting trips in the past and recently bought a four season camping tent and some thermal sleeping bags to prevent it from happening again. The tent sleeps up to eight so I knew we would have plenty of room for all of us and our gear. I also knew we’d be protected because the four season camping tent is built to conquer strong wind and heavy snow.

As the weekend approached, I packed all my equipment knowing that we’d be going hunting as planned. What’s even better is that hunters without the best camping equipment would be canceling their trips. Fewer hunters in the woods would mean better hunting for us. Also, doesn’t it seem like the deer know just when the season starts? Well, maybe because of the bad weather they wouldn’t hide quite so carefully.

Friday finally came and we stowed our camping equipment in the car and headed for the woods. All of a sudden I realized that we left the picnic backpacks with the food for our first day in it. We don’t barbecue on the first day because by the time we arrive at camp and set up our equipment, it’s too late to bother cooking.  After the first night though, we take out our barbecue tools and grill up dinner on our portable grill.

Finally we hit the road. I couldn’t wait to get to the woods and set up our camping gear before the snow and wind set in. For me nothing is better than a weekend at hunting camp with my best friends and the anticipation of the hunt to come. Stay tuned and I’ll tell you how we did on our winter weather hunting trip.

The proper camping gear is what is going to make your camping trip fun and exciting as well as safe. You will need the tent or camper for sure, but you also need gear such as pet camping supplies if you have a pet along, flashlights, a portable grill, lawn furniture, coolers, and heaters and insect repellent. If you think about it, you will probably need it when you are camping. This goes for your cooking supplies, bedding, and cleaning and bathing supplies. When you go camping, you do need some camping gear to be happy and safe.

The number one thing on your list for pet camping gear should be the pet tag that is motion activated. This going to help you see the dog, but also allows others to see the dog when it is pitch black outside. This is going to protect your pet and others from a potentially dangerous encounter. You should also include a dog bed or a lounger for them.

The lounger is nice because it keeps them off the ground. If you decide to take a pet thatn the pet gear should also include a first aid kit, toys and enough food and water. Different water sources can affect a dog’s body and can cause diarrhea.

You might even need to bring along a repair kit for your camper top or tent. If you do discover a leak, you are going to need to repair it even if it is temporary, so you do not have any rain or bugs getting inside. Camping gear should also include a first aid kit. No one knows for sure that they will not cut their finger or need some antibiotic cream. You should also have plenty of batteries or a rechargeable battery for the any of your gear that requires batteries.

Camping equipment includes utensils, cookware, dishes and water bottles. These are the standard camping needs, you might have more, but the basics are what will get you by when camping. The water bottles are nice because they are capped and it prevents bugs from entering your drinks.

Some people will not need the pet camping gear, but some may need gear for kids. The idea behind camping is to have everything that is going to make it fun, safe and relaxing. Whatever you need to accomplish this should be a part of your camping gear.
