The prices of airline tickets can vary enormously, even over the course of a day. The price you are quoted in the morning may have decreases or even increased by the afternoon! Airlines base their ticket prices on three basic factors: demand, availability and competition.
This can mean that flights to less popular destinations can be much more expensive than flights to more popular locations. This can also mean that prices will fall further if an airline is having difficulty filling seats.
Search Early
To make the greatest savings always start your hunt for bargain tickets as early as possible. By early I mean at least one month in advance, not just a week or two. While decreases in ticket prices can occur they tend to increase so searching early is generally a good idea.
Shop Around
Always take some time to shop around the various airlines, either by telephoning or by using their websites. You can use the price quoted by one airline to get a better deal from one of their competitors. It’s a good idea to tell airlines that you are flexible over your date and time of departure in order to be quoted the best possible prices. Try to keep your proposed travel date to yourself to start with and just ask each airline for their cheapest price to your destination.
Make Good Use of Discounts
Airline discounts can be misleading at times so be certain to check the details. Most discounted flights come with a whole load of restrictions that you need to be aware of such as date and time of travel. The take full advantage of any discount you will often have to book your flight at least three or four weeks in advance. Always be sure to familiarise yourself with the restrictions taht apply to discounts from various airlines.
Buy Two Way Tickets
Always get return tickets rather than buy separate one-way tickets for your return journey as this will save you a fortune.
Use Your Age
If you’re a student be certain to look out for student discounts. You may find that there are some discounts specifically for senior travellers so if you are a bit older it would be worth asking about these.
Hopefully these simple tips will help you to save some cash on your next airline tickets.
For more travel savings I recommend booking your Birmingham Airport Parking, Heathrow Parking or Gatwick Parking as far in advance as possible.
