When people think about Egypt holidays their minds frequently turn to the majestic pyramids, the Sphinx and other ancient monuments. Egypt presents a history of humanity in a wildly dramatic visual form. Again and again it widens the eyes and unlocks the imaginations of those who visit for far flung locations around the world.
But Egypt holidays offer more than just one fascinating world waiting to be uncovered. Just beyond the sun-baked desert lies another impossibly beautiful world underwater in the shape of the crystal clear Red Sea.
Egypt provides one of the most stimulating, colourful and accessible areas for diving anywhere in the world. Hardened scuba divers will enjoy exploring wrecks off the north coast, but it’s in the sparkling waters of the Red Sea where the greatest treasures are to be found – both natural and man-made.
A large number of well-preserved wrecks can be explored in the straits of Tiran and Marsa Alam. Indeed there are many other vessels who have met their demise in this body of water that are still yet to be discovered.
The coral reefs are located incredibly close to the shoreline. At Sharm al Sheikh it extends only ten metres away from the land at a depth of only one metre, before plunging deep towards the sea bed, sometimes down for an incredible 800 metres. Around 200 reef species are supported by the Red Sea offering huge variety.
Divers here can enjoy the full spectrum of bright colours and patterns as they explore the reefs and beyond. The giant puffer fish, the blue spotted ray and the ever-popular clown fish are among the thousands of breeds to be seen. The climate also means that Egypt holidays are an all year round possibility.
Egypt is within easy reach for most travellers with direct flights from many UK city airports to several destinations throughout the country. There is also a fantastic range of accommodation available from basic to luxurious, but all in a comfortable and relaxing environment. Whether you’re looking for excitement above or below sea level, Egypt provides magical opportunities to explore just a few clicks away.

The battle of the titans has ensued with the two top holidays going at it. By quite a long way, holidays to Egypt and the Caribbean are the most sought after and by far the most popular. It may not be fair to compare a whole region to one country, but they are probably not that different in size.
Cuba holidays have really taken off in the last 10 years, boosting the overall tourism industry in the Caribbean to massive amounts. However thanks to destinations like St Lucia, Barbados, Grenada and Cuba the Caribbean has a massive amount of visitors every day. Although they may look the same, each of these islands feel completely different. There is much diversity in the Caribbean, the islands are all completely different. If you go to St Lucia or have ever been, you will know that it is becoming a spa holiday island, just somewhere for you to get pampered.
So does this really give the Caribbean an unfair advantage when holiday bookings come into it? Well look at it this way, every month around 130,000 people search for Egypt holidays just in the UK. That’s a phenomenal number, and although it is less than all of the Caribbean island searches, the number of searches for Egypt outweighs that of any other single country, at the moment.
But why egypt? Well when you consider it, Egypt has a lot more to offer than many other countries around the world. With such a diverse and extensive history dating back over 7000 years and most documented, this makes Egypt very unique. It’s not just Egypt’s history that’s fascinating, activity wise Egypt offers some great diving locations, Spa holidays and archaeological dig sites. Everywhere you go there is something interesting to see. Egypt has a great climate as well, although for some this maybe too hot.
So there you have it, two of the holiday destination kings.

I embarked on my first ever holiday to Egypt this year. It was one hell of a day. With the recession and everything being so expensive it was hard to get the time to take a holiday, but recently the costs have dropped a massive amount.
I originally wanted to go to Cairo; however I recently read another blog post on a holiday to Luxor. I had read a lot about this location and people always talked about it, so i needed to go there. The city of Luxor used to be known as the city of Thebes. This means that when you arrive, you arrive in a city of history. So I arrived there and I was staying in my hotel the Steigenberger Nile Palace Hotel, a fantastic 5 star hotel with a stunning architecture and great room service, which kept me very happy. Egypt holidays were looking good already.
However I wasn’t there for the room service, I wanted to do touristy things, so I headed out on a tour to the Valley of the Kings. This is a massive burial ground for the powerful kings and nobles whom had died in the BC centuries. As it got darker, i was looking at one of the tombs and all of sudden realised i was on my own, my group had gone, so i caught up with another one. Then i realised i didn’t know anyone in this group. This can’t be happening. So I was on my way to tell the guide I was lost when all of a sudden this thing in white rags touched me on the shoulder, I recoiled in fear and I may have screamed a little bit like what I could only describe as a little girl.
It turned out I had stumbled into a private scare tour. They were in the area because they were going to two weddings abroad. I decided I would enjoy this luxury holidays thing back at the hotel, the room service sounded like a good idea at that point.
