Fortunately for our community, there are simply tons of gay travel in Europe destinations. As a much more progressive country, Europe offers the gay traveler everything from clubs to eateries to family friendly hotels. There are many destinations that do not expect you to be closeted or even subtle, which for those coming from some of the more repressed destinations can be quite liberating.

Hot spots for gays like London–Soho are great for those that want to experience all of the gay culture in Europe all at once. The entire area is like a town dedicated to family, and thus can be one of the more exciting destinations for those who have become fed up with self editing trips that require discretion.

European towns and cities are generally open, as tolerant travel has become ever more important throughout the countries that comprise Europe. With the increase in friendly atmospheres, local and tourists alike have found the violence is down. Intolerance and preaching is down. There are more friendly destinations here than just about anywhere else.

This means that the fight for equality and tolerance has already been fought. While there will always be intolerance, many of these countries and cities are more open than most of the states.

There are many destinations within Germany for gays that offer an open atmosphere to give you a full vacation without the complications of intolerance. Many pubs and eateries throughout Europe cater to everyone, and there can be no distinction between a gay friendly establishment and any other establishment. There you can find the tolerance you deserve without worrying about social relevance.

If you aren’t completely sure about the gay friendly destinations versus the less than friendly destinations, simply check out a tourism guide from a family focused travel agency. There are many agencies which have put together gay packages to help our community find open environments in which to take our vacations. The best memories are made when we are free to be ourselves, and our vacation destinations are no exception.

Travelers with sufficient financial resources must visit two destinations that trigger unique emotions, especially for gays and members of other sexual minority groups.  They can be located within two great cities, each on a different continent.

Amsterdam is undoubtedly one of the European continent’s truly beautiful cities, partly attributable to the rings of canals that meander in concentric circles around the heart of the city, while serving commerce, housing and flood control needs.  The canals are tranquil pauses as residents and tourists traverse this bustling but easily navigated commercial capital of the Netherlands.

Within the city–and an important part of the city–is the unique Homomonument, Amsterdam’s tribute to gay people.  Using the infamous pink triangles that the Nazis forced upon the gay concentration camp prisoners in the years prior to and during the war, the monument is made up of a horizontal configuration of three pink granite triangles.  While the triangles imposed by the Nazis were meant to imply a shameful identity, the granite triangle of Amsterdam speak of the memory of the dark past, the struggles of current times and the guarded hopes of a future of greater respect and dignity for all people who have minority sexual orientations.  The monument is visited each year by tourists and residents of every sexual orientation in tribute, in memory and in celebration.

Washington, D.C., the capital city of the U.S., lies several thousand miles to the west of Amsterdam.  Most travelers to Washington spend the majority of their time along the Mall, the center of the tourist district.  The Mall is marked at one end by the Capitol building with the Lincoln Memorial at the other.  In between are the main museums of the Smithsonian, the White House, the Washington Monument and several war memorials.

Just across a street and a few steps from the Mall is an essential stop for every visitor to the city, especially enthusiasts of gay tourism is the U.S. National Holocaust Museum.  A moving memorial to all who suffered at the hands of the Nazis before and during World War II, much of the museum and memorial is dedicated to the imprisoned and executed Jews, who were the most numerous of the victims.

Many groups are remembered in this architecturally impressive structure.  Among the other victims of Nazi imposed terror and death who are recognized are Gypsies and gays.  At this location a gay man will feel the shivers looking at the actual pink triangles sewn onto the shirts of our predecessors.  Combined with the images of the granite triangles of Amsterdam, a somber but hopeful circle of emotion is joined, and we are reminded of the slogan of the post-holocaust period of both “Never forget!” and “Never again.”

Going on a gay Caribbean cruise is like going on your own personal adventure that has been tailored made just for your needs. There are all kinds of cruises offered by cruise lines these days, but the gay Caribbean cruise is the highlight of them all. Why? For many reasons, actually. Leading the list of reasons is that this is the one vacation that you can have that will allow you to be totally and complete open.

The gay cruise is set up to allow you total freedom even when it comes down to how you interact with family. You don’t have to run from party to party to have a blast on one of these very special cruises.

No need to worry as you don’t have to find your inner wild child in order to have the perfect cruise for you. Many couples are simply thrilled to be part of their community while being able to do normal everyday things that most couples do. Being separated from the straight community for awhile can be very liberating, even for conservative couples.

Because the cruise ships are so large and diverse, diverse members of the community can engage in all kinds of activities without infringing on each other. Those who prefer quiet nights with long strolls under the moonlight will find their own personal heaven as they slip out onto the deck. Those who prefer a bit of activity on the dance floor until 5 in the morning will also find that they have stumbled into the absolute perfect vacation destination.

Most people go on a gay Caribbean cruise because no matter how out or closeted you may feel you are there is nothing quite like being the majority for awhile. It’s quite different from some other types of gay travel experiences. It’s not hard to find the full spectrum that you’re looking for. You can hit the dance floor  looking for partners just as easily as you can take a stroll around the moonlit deck with  your partner. It’s all relative to you.

If you are interested in a vacation that puts you in control of your surroundings, that offers you all the creature comforts of being at home while catering to your grand and luxurious desires then you need to check out the gay Caribbean cruise. These are cruises that take you into the heart of the GLBTQ community just as fast as they take you into the heart of the islands of the Caribbean.

It’s all about fun, freedom, and celebrating everything you can about being you. The gay community has much to celebrate these days. You might just want to kick it with your own people and stop analyzing it to death. This is your gay Caribbean cruise, so you get to do with it whatever you please.
