The island of Kos isn’t dubbed the jewel of the Aegean for nothing. A favourite with British holidaymakers for years are Holidays here. There’s no excuse not to go, with a number of cheap holidays and cheap flights to choose from.
You’ll be gagging to hit to beach, the minute you’ve stepped off one of the many flights! Choose from on of the dazzling sandy beaches that make up the 25 miles that Kos boasts . Lambi Beach is the most popular, attracting thousands of tourists thanks to its facilities and close proximity of the town. If you fancy travelling further afield, Kos boasts many remote but breathtaking beaches, such as Limnionas and Agios Theologos on the South coast.
You’ll find a day trip to Turkey is a great excursion. The ancient city made for exploring is the resort of Bodrum, a 20 minute trip away, is also a popular day excursion. Or stay on the island and spend a day roaming the mountain villages of Agios Dimitrios, Lagoudi, Zia and Zipari – hire a bike and pack a picnic, or sample the real flavour of Greece and go local.
giving the humble holidaymaker a rare insight into the island’s history are the ancient structures that Kos boasts. The acclaimed Hippocrates Plane Treet on Plateia Platanou, where, according to local tradition, the ancient Physician taught his pupils; the mosaics at the House of Europa and the Roman Nymphaeum, along with the Ancient Agora are must-sees too. Also of extreme significance to the island is the Asklipieion, where the remains of a leading Greek medical school offer information about how important Kos was in the world of medicine nearly 2,500 years ago.
And at night, the island really comes alive! Beach bars, Greek dancing, live music and discos are all for the taking along with delicious cuisine and wine in local tavernas. With secluded restaurants, chilled out bars and more, the seafront offers a quieter alternative to this nightlife.

Being a keen traveller, I’ve visited so many different places and have experienced incredible moments that just the travelling experience can provide. Having experienced great moments of awe and admiration towards the nature’s miracles. From the mighty Iguacu Waterfalls in the borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguy to the breath taking site of Machu Pichu and from the solitude of Sahara to the deep blue of the Aegean Sea my eyes have seen so much and my senses have experienced even more.
However, if I ever had the chance to pick up one particular moment out of all those moments I would choose the time as I spent in Egypt with a river trip in the Nile being the ultimate highlight. It’s not easy to explain the reasons for such a choice but I guess it has to do with the incredible energy that Nile transmits. I had never considered river cruises as I couldn’t see any point having a cruise in a river.
Being a typical sea-born person I wouldn’t expect to feel so good anywhere far from the sea. Although I had spent some years of my life living in Budapest and Prague that were built in the Danube’s banks, I was never amazed by any river until that day.
So, it was during the time I was in Egypt when a good friend of mine came across various cruise deals and managed to make inhibitions go away and try one. As he said, you may have only one chance in life for some experiences which was enough to make me give in. There were so many tour operators selling Nile River Cruises at Aswan that buying one didn’t take us more than 10-15 minutes.
The hours we spent in the Nile were just unforgettable. Because its mouth is located into the Mediterranean sea the whole landscape seemed familiar. Thinking that it is the longest river in the world makes one realise how vital it is for that huge arid piece of land that goes all the way down into Ethiopia and Uganda. So intense was the experience I had that it makes no wonder why ancient Egyptians worship had the Nile at its center.

If you are thinking of going on luxury cruises this summer holidays and struggling to find cheap cruiseline. To find out the cheap deals the best place to search would be on the Internet. The information Internet carries is brilliant, it has information on anything and everything. Google search engine is used by billions and simply is taking over the World. Millions of people go online on a daily basis to find information and this is definitely the place to go and find cheap deals on cruises.
Many people are online shopping for their needs nowadays. Before buying the products you can also read the reviews and feedbacks from people who have already used that product or service, which is brilliant. Most recently people have wrote positive reviews about Silversea cruises on their great service and stunning cruise. When the flights were cancelled because of volcanic ash many British citizens were stranded in Spain, Celebrity cruises got a big mention as they sent their cruise to help the stranded.
In the past I have been in there cruise lines, Regent, Silversea and Fred Olsen cruises. I had a fantastic time in all these three cruise lines. The service of all of these three cruises was fantastic. The people could not have been any more friendlier and the atmosphere was great. I never wanted to come back home to be honest with you. I think that was because I was with my family and we all were having a fantastic time.
In 2011 we are planning to go on another cruise but different cruise line, Royal Caribbean cruise. All of us are looking forward to the weather, the white sandy beaches and the rum. I found great low price deal on the Internet while looking for a cruise to the Bahamas. I found 30% cheaper deals than the travel agent on the Internet but yes it does take time to do the research.
