the Vatican City

A visit to the Rome city center is more than what many might think. Although this city center is one of the most visited places in the world, one might actually be coming to see the seat of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. However, what one may not realize is that the city center of Rome is filled with a ton of places to occupy one’s time. And one can find great Vatican City hotels to stay in right in the middle of the city. The city center is quite an experience for those who are going to visit the modern and ancient world of Rome.

The Rome city center is right in the middle of the seven hills that are so famous in Roman history. Many myths and legends are associated with these hills and one can be transported back in time by just looking at the landscape of Rome. One thing to remember is that Vatican hill is not considered part of the original seven. If one needs to see the actual location of the seven hills, then a good Rome city map can help one out.

The city center of Rome is not only filled with history but also modern places. Over three hundred hotels, two hundred palaces, nine hundred churches, and almost all of the governmental offices are located in this city center. A Rome city tour is based on all that is offered for the tourist in this center. The heart of Rome is located on the old city center where, at one time, people used to come to market in their long togas to purchase items for their everyday lives. Rome day tours can lead one right through this metro area that is filled with something all the time.

Since this is one of the most visited cities in the world, the Rome city center is at the heart of tourism and life of this world. No matter if one is looking for a guided Rome city tour or a good Roman hotel to stay in, they can find it here in the center of this eternal city. Life has changed in Rome since the time of the emperors, but the heart of the city still rests in the center of this great world known as Rome.

about Vatican City

For years, the Holy See has been linked to the world of the Vatican Church in Rome. However, it is not really the church. According to history, the See has been around long before the actual Vatican City church came into existence. Many do not understand the separation between the Holy See and the actual Vatican City state. However, history has shown the difference for years and one only has to do a little research in order to understand it for themselves.

In order to understand what the Holy See really is one should know that this is the actual governing body of the Vatican City state. According to history, the See is what originated from St. Peter, not the actual Vatican City site itself. The See is actually the authority, jurisdiction and sovereignty that the Pope and his advisors have to use over the world wide Roman Catholic Church. The See has diplomatic relationships with over one hundred and seventy five countries from around the world, even with those that are predominately Muslim. The Pope reaches out to people all over the world to help spread the word of God and he does this through the Holy See.

Vatican City on the other hand is the actual place where the See is located. This is where the tomb of St. Peter is located and where millions flock everyday to catch a glimpse of heaven’s messenger on earth, also known as the Pope. The current Vatican City state did not come into existence until 1929, when the Lateran Treaty was put into effect. With a population of only around eight hundred, this walled city-state is the smallest independent state in the world today.

The Holy See is not what many people think it is. Vatican City is where the Pope resides and the See is the governing body of this independent state. Oftentimes the two terms are used interchangeably, and this is very incorrect. By understanding that one resulted from Christ and his apostle Peter and the other resulted from a treaty, then a person can better comprehend what the Roman Catholic Church is all about. Power reigns supreme in most countries, but in Vatican City, God reigns supreme thanks to his emissary on earth known as the Pope.
