This year has been a year where people have literally been cutting down on their spending, the credit crunch has taken its toll on a lot of families and some families have even lost their jobs and income altogether.

The travel and holidays industry has suffered quite a bit there are numerous families that have not even contemplated going away this year, simply because they cannot afford it. But I am going to tell you a personal story that I experienced as to why British people would rather spend their hard earned money on a new mobile or contract phone.

Ok my phone had had it and I was topping up around 40 per month, so I decided to myself why not instead go and get a free handset and free minutes for that price. So I went to my local store. To my surprise there were tons of people literally waiting to get a contract phone. I specifically wanted to keep my phone number and have the ability to make free calls to 0800 numbers from my mobile. But it just would not work out that way.

Anyway when I was speaking to the sales guy he was literally dismayed at how busy the week had been and said it in no way feels like there is a credit crunch going on. After a study it was shown that 41% would cut down on DIY, 41% on holidays, 16% on Television subscriptions and 10% on broadband services.

An average of £310.71 was spent on average per household on internet services last year, compared to £11.37 in 2007.

So there you have it all in one well formed and great article, you can see the pure amount that technology has developed, and people would rather spend their money and cash on handsets. But if you still fancy a holidays, take a look at this luxury cruises information

Ok my phone had had it and I was topping up approximately 40 per calendar month, so I decided to myself why not alternatively go and get a free handset and free minutes for that price. So I made my way to the local shop. To my surprise there were dozens of people literally ready and waiting to get a contract telephone. I specifically wanted to keep my phone number and have the ability to make free calls to 0800 numbers from any cell phone. But it just would not work out that way.

You might think that during a global economic downturn, health spas would suffer from loss of custom. You might reckon that people are spending their money only on essentials right now and not on luxuries that they don’t strictly need. You might be surprised to learn then that the International Spa Assosication (ISPA) has suggested recently that health spa are recession proof. They then backed this up with figures that showed visits to health spas in 2008 were up a whopping 16% on 2007 statistics. So how and why is this case?

Experts who work for the ISPA have suggested that it is because spas can adapt their offerings relatively quickly in relation to the market that they will survive. What is meant by this is that a spa will offer people indulgent and pampering treatments when everything is going well and they have lots of money. They offer luxury manicures and indulgent body wraps, selling the concept of ‘why not? You’ve earned it’.However, the same offerings would not go down well in a recession. Marketing things as ‘luxury’ when people’s finances have taken a hit is not the right option. Spas then have to adjust the messages they are giving out.

Spas can claim to offer people exactly what they need when they are suffering from a period of high stress or anxiety. They suggest having a full body de-stressing massage, to work away all the pains and strains of life and give you back the energy you need to go about your daily lives. Instead of pampering facials, you can now get a uplifting exfoliating scrub to get rid of all that old bad skin and emerge a brand new butterfly with a fresh outlook on life and a positive attitude towards any problems you may be facing
