Because of the recession that everybody is experiencing today, a lot of people are trying to find an additional endeavor just to extend their financial arm so that they can put more food on their family’s table. For some, if they have their own jobs and still can’t cope up with the today’s economic life, they would try to find other jobs and add it to their existing ones. Oftentimes, there are people who can do 4 full-time jobs in one day. While others are doing this, there are others who would go to put up their own business and a few of them would like to venture into a home-based business. Talking about home-based business, if you are looking for one, how about learning how to start a booking agent business on your own and yes, you can do this right in your own home?

There was once a lady employee who just fired her boss (that’s right, she’s the one who fired her boss) and decided that she would become a booking agent. What made her decide to do that? What did she saw in this booking agent business that others didn’t see? First and foremost, she had seen that a lot of her friends and relatives are always on the run, meaning, people go to places for a vacation or a business trip. Transportation these days is getting to be the biggest industry and almost every second and every minute, there is someone traveling either by plane, boat or bus.

And the worry to some stravelers is booking for reservations. So, they would seek the help of a booking agency business so they don’t have to go from one place to another to buy tickets to get some travel insurance or to find some transportation in going to an airport or harbor. With the booking agent on standby, all they have to do is buy the ticket in one place and make some reservations and maybe even enjoy the trip with a shuttle bus service. This is what this former lady employee have seen and that’s why she ended up as a booking agent and she is actually making more money than what she is earning while working for somebody in the past.

Traveling at the last minute can be nerve-wracking, for whatever reason, be it intentionally or just unfortunate turn of events. That is just because you have come with an unprepared mindset. Since traveling unprepared can sometimes give you trouble regarding hotel bookings, here are tips on how you could land a place to stay even if you’re making travel plans at the last minute:

Look for hotels at local websites.
Websites offering tips and last minute booking deals abound but not many of them can be very helpful if you’re trying to actually get accommodated. Instead of using websites that cater to a national or even international crowd, consider using local websites. These sites oven offer better (read: better) listings of hotels if you’re traveling last minute. Global sites are often simply too expansive to actually give you the good deals.

Use multiple sites.
It’s rare to find last minute hotel bookings that offer reasonable prices in only one site. Use several different sites so you can compare. You might even come across really great deals – terrific if you’re traveling on a budget.

You should always prefer a local travel agent.
Don’t rely too much on your trusty travel agent. Even they sometimes don’t get to help in terms of last minutehotel bookings during your travels. Instead of that, look up travel agencies in the locality where you are traveling to. You could probably find them online, at tourism websites or online yellow pages.

These local travel agencies have a better access on the actual availability of hotel rooms in their area. They should – they’re located there. Call them up or send an e-mail to inquire.

Ask the local tourism office.
If you’re traveling to a popular destination, they usually have local tourism offices that you can turn to for assistance. It’s the local government’s way to show hospitality in order to encourage tourists to come visit. If you need booking for last minute hotels for your travel, try checking those in charge of local tours. They could guide you in finding a nice, safe place to stay for the duration of your trip.

An advantage here is that not many people do this often – they prefer the more beaten path of calling hotels, airlines and travel agencies. And since you’ll be talking with the tourism office, you might want to get a few tips on finding the best hotels where you could experience the local flavors and offerings of your destination.

Check offers from low cost airlines.
Many low cost airlines have affiliated hotels. These range from 4 to 5 star hotels to more simple accommodations courtesy of inns and hostels. You might want to check their websites for availability in case you’re traveling any time soon. Many of these affiliated hotels can accept last minute bookings. An advantage: if you select the low cost airline for traveling, you get all the information you require including the hotel bookings from only the one portal.

Check out package tours.
Sometimes, last minute hotel booking problems can be solved by simply checking out bundled tours. Few airlines like major carriers might offer package tours inclusive of car rentals with the accommodations charge of hotel.

If you book a flight with any of these airlines, you could take advantage of their offers, get an airplane ticket, book a last minute hotel room and even have a car pick you up from and to the airport.

There are many ways that travel can go wrong. You can get the wrong documents and have your passport messed up that you have to replace it before you can even think of getting out of the country. You can get the worst flights that are always delayed and that can cause you numerous inconveniences.

You can get the wrong hotel, the wrong tour, and the wrong directions around your chosen city. In other words, your tour can be messed up considerably if you do not choose the right agency or get the right directions. Now think of how much worse this can get if you actually have to do travel at the last minute!

Traveling at the last minute is not only inconvenient, but it can ruin even the best laid travel plans. You will need to get the best directions not only for your destination and the tours that you want, but for how you can survive your last minute travel arrangements. Here are a few places that you can use as your resources when you are getting directions to keep you on track.

First of all, you need to have proper knowledge about the country where you are going for tour, as you plan your international travel. You need to know what documents you need to bring and what trouble you may expect. You also need to know if you are required to have a visa, what to do and who to contact if your passport gets lost, and the address of your embassy or consulate in the area just in case something goes wrong. Some embassies will also have information on where you can get good information for travel and tours in their respective countries.

Second, talk to your travel agent about the tours that you want to have. You may not be able to get a lot of good deals on tours if you are on a last minute travel schedule, but you can still try. After all, your hired travel agent should be adept with knowledge and should be able to provide you help regarding what you need to do and where you need to go.

Third, never underestimate the importance of a map. You need to have a map of the area that you want to travel in, which you can usually find online. This can help you plan your itinerary out. You can even draw up your itinerary during the time you are on the flying or in train to your destination! This way, you know where to go even before you get to the place. However, you still need to maintain some flexibility just in case things don’t go the way that you plan. This means that you should be aware of any local festivals that might hold up traffic, or issues that might keep you from traveling safely or quickly to any place at your destination of choice.

These are only a few tips that you can use when you want to get directions for international travel. For more information, do your own research: subscribe to travel magazines and take note of any tips that you can use, look for websites for travelers who need advice about certain destinations.

And when you do get to your destination, start noting down what advice you can give other last minute travelers.
