My sister and I will be visiting the sunshine state of Florida together next month and since her birthday is during the time we are away, I plan to treat her with a surprise. Although we will be doing the things one would normally expect of first time tourists in Florida (exploring the Miami beaches and visiting the Disney resort with the kids) I plan to also take my sister who is a lover of horses to Lady Hawk Farm, located along the state’s nature coast, in Inverness.
Ranch holidays look like relaxing experiences and if it weren’t for us having our families with us, we may have considered a much longer stint at Lady Hawk Farm. It is possible however, to book riding excursions by the hour and as such, I have booked a long trail ride that will see us galloping through the picturesque Withlacoochee State Forest, where I am also told plays habitat to plenty of beautiful wildlife. Online reviews from others who have taken advantage of the glorious views from atop a horseback during their Florida holidays is very flattering. Various feedback says that the facilities and accommodation are impressive, and that the farm’s horses are both gentle and properly rained. This is useful to me since I have not braved riding a horse since falling off of one in 1988! With riding lessons for beginners also available, I feel that I will be safe and under the supervision of knowledgeable professionals.
In our younger days, my sister and I have had a few other USA holidays, including New York and the extravagant Las Vegas, but I really think that having our children – in addition to my birthday surprise will make this our best holiday to date. And no, I haven’t told the kids yet as I know they would spoil the suprise! Neither have I informed our husbands that I plan to make them watch the children during the surprise but I’m sure they’ll survive

Think of USA holidays and most people will conjure up images of Fly Drive/ Self Drive tours along the states of the Eastern Seaboard or the great transcontinental car journeys across the heartland of the United States. Some may see USA holidays only in terms of city destinations like New York or family Disney packaged holidays in Florida.City breaks in the USA, especially the Big Apple, and the huge range of family entertainment available in Orlando and throughout Florida are hard to beat.
Many others, especially fight fans and those of us who like a flutter, consider Las Vegas Holidays to be the only real way to holiday USA.The self-proclaimed entertainment capital of the world has an incredible amount of things to do and attractions on offer day and at night. You can take in a spectacular show, book a helicopter flight over the strip hotels like the MGM Grand or fly all the way to the Grand Canyon.
Very few might equate USA holidays with the seaside, but the States is home to some of the best beaches in the world! Beach holidays in America come in a wide variety of temperatures, depending on where you go and what time of year you visit. If you’re an avid sun worshiper who likes the heat, then there are southern USA and Caribbean destinations galore. For those who don’t like it hot, there are lots of other USA destinations that offer fantastic weather without that heat intensity.
Whether it’s Florida on the East Coast or California on the West, you’re sure to find some golden sands that suit your tastes. And don’t forget that Hawaii Holidays are synonymous with fabulous beaches and tropical seas. This “American” destination is after all where surfing was invented and secluded areas are still a glorious semi-tropical paradise.Hawaii also lends itself to cruising, another American holiday that may not be first in your mind. Cruise programmes offer a range of sights and memories from the warmth of the Caribbean to the icy majesty of Alaska while a cruise from California along the Panama Canal is an unforgettable experience.

Fly Drive USA
As much fun as holidays to America are; it is important to remember that each state is in fact like its own little country and has its own traffic laws.
If you are looking to travel across the States by car, you can pick up great deals for car rental but do follow the below tips.
Tip #1 – Always ask your car agent if there are any special laws for drinving in the current state
Tip #2 – If driving through states, make sure you take a tour book for driving regulations.
Whatever you do, ALWAYS observe the speed limits in school zones (15 mph if lights are flashing) and ALWAYS stop if you are in front or behind of a school bus with flashing lights. Americans are very protective of their kids and breaking these laws will see you a severe punishment!
Rail Tours USA
If you are a fan of USA tours but don’t fancy driving the whole way across the states then USA rail tours are a must. For a small piece of luxury across a long journey, these hotels on wheels are affordable and very comfortable. Enjoy the comfort of air-conditioned cabins and uniformed staff attending you whilst having a sleep or enjoying the beautiful scenery to be found in North America and Canada. Eat. Drink. Relax. Unwind and let the pleasure of the ride wash over you as tuck into a quality meal and enjoy fine American wine. Or, book yourself into an overnight cabin to be truly refreshed for arrival at your destination in the morning. There are also sleeping cabins available.
Cruising America
If you want to try cruising round the Caribbean or Alaska, then a trip from normally Florida, by luxury cruiser is a fantastic experience and oftentimes a great deal. To see dramatic settings with natural habitats then a trip out to Alaska and Northern Canada by cruise liner is an unforgettable experience.
Popular Destinations
If you are trying to decide on where to go some of the best USA destinations are;
Las Vegas, Nevada – like Disney World for grown-ups.
Orlando Florida – Disney World, land of dreams for families.
Alaska – a truly massive wilderness to get safely lost in
San Francisco, California – Feel a touch of living new American history.
I love America and I’m sure you will too.
