Whats impressive about going on safari to Kenya is that in the Masai Mara the “Big Five” all exist in the same park. The name Big Five was originally coined by hunters because these animals were supposed to be the hardest game to hunt and find.

The proud pride owner the Lion. This powerful animal is only the second of the big four cats, before the tiger. Lions in general are keystone predators which means they hunt and take down their own food, rather than scavenge, although if the opportunity arises they will take it. The lion has been known to become a man-eater and have been reported in some cases to actually stalk Humans as prey.

The ever majestic African Elephant. These massive beasts weigh an impressive average of about 5 and half tonnes and can reach over 3 metres tall. An elephant has 4 molars for teeth and they are each 12 inches long, and weigh about five kilograms. One of the amazing things about the elephant is that the tusks can grow up to 2 and a half metres long.

Then there is the Cape buffalo. This animal is one of the preys of lions that are actually pretty good at defending themselves; they have even been known to kill lions as well. The Cape buffalo is regarded as one of the most dangerous animals in Mara; it is a very short temper and is reported to have killed about 200 people every year.

The Black Rhinoceros. This well armoured and large beast has in a way been wrongly named, this was because the White Rhino has been wrongly named as well. The Black and the White Rhino are practically indistinguishable by colour. White in the White Rhino’s name was actually a mistranslation of “Weit” in Dutch. The literal meaning of this word actually means Wide, this was because the White Rhino had a square like structure to it’s lip, but the Black Rhino had a pointed lip.

Finally the Leopard. This is the smallest of the Big Cats, but is by no means the slowest. The Leopard is not really noticed for the fact that it can reach a massive 36 mph on the ground, and that it can jump up to 3 metres vertically into the air. Also the Leopard is the best Big Cat swimmer and by far the best tree climber.

So if you would like to go and see the Big Five then why not try Kenya holidays, Tanzania holidays or Zambia holidays. You will find them around these key locations.

This stunning and varied national park is not only huge, it is also very beautiful. It can be found in the north west of Tanzania and encroaches into the south east of Kenya. Many wonders and splendors occupy Tanzania and the Serengeti helps put that into perspective. Let’s take a look at some of the both the unknown and more famous points of Tanzania’s wonderland.

The word Serengeti is actually derived from the Maasai language meaning “endless plains”. The Maasai people were a very strong tribe and they populated much of the Serengeti, when the Europeans came to the land of Tanzania, they left many of the animals alone because they didn’t want to annoy the Maasai people. The term Serengeti fits this national park very well because it has an area of just over 30,000 kilometres squared.

The main event that the Serengeti is famous for is the Circular Migration. From July to early October is the time span in which this Circular migration travels. Many different herbivores numbering at about two million will travel across the Serengeti and over the Mara river catching the rains they need to survive. They continue up into the Masai Mara reserve, a popular destination for Kenya holidays and safaris.

The Serengeti also has its very own active volcano called Ol Doinyo Lengai. Becuase this volcano is still active, it has lava flows and ejects ash as well, this in turn damages plants and even prevents plant growth. Tanzania contains around five hundred and fifty Avifauna, or as most of us know them, bird species.

If you are interested in going on a safari, this is one of the places that should be at the top of your list. If you make in at around August to September you will be in the peak season to see the Circular Migration in action.

So why don’t you leave home and embark on an adventure on Tanzania holidays or Zambia holidays, you won’t be at all disappointed.

Here are two very different holidays. There’s the Safari holiday and then there’s the chill out beach holiday. All that this really boils down to is which one is the best for you?

This is all down to the person that you are. If you like to relax by the sea and enjoy a couple of margaritas then the beach holiday is best for you. But if you prefer to be one with the wild extremes then the Safari holiday will be more in tune with your senses. Let’s just skim over some of the good and bad points on these two holidays.

We’ll start with the Safari holidays. Kenya holidays produce some fantastic safaris. The Masai Mara is one of the most popular Safari destinations and you could head off into the wild. These holidays offer you a wide range of things to explore, from animals to different cultures and people. Heading off on the Safari holiday won’t just show you things most others won’t have seen, it will fill you with knowledge as well. The obvious Advantages are being able to get up close and personal with some of the most amazing wildlife in the world. A guide will be appointed to you, and he will be able to show you all the wonders that await you on your safari. A vacation like this is one of those that you will only have one chance to do, and the fact they cost up to 5000 pounds, maybe more, you will probably only get one chance.

So then, if the adventure life isn’t for you then what else is there to try? Going to the Beach and staying at a resort is always popular. Going to the seaside is a vacation where everyone has fun. You can travel all over the world for a fraction of the cost of a safari holiday and still visit some great places. With offers to Jamaica and Barbados it would be difficult to turn down a beach holiday. The main advantage is that the prices to go to the Caribbean will be cheaper than going to Africa. If all you want is a beach holiday you can even stay at home and just go to the coast.

If you think you’re an adventure freak, then try the safaris on Zambia holidays or Tanzania holidays where you can visit the Serengeti. There is always the option to grab some plane tickets and enjoy the sun in the Bahamas.
